In the first game, the Darkness powers were limited and players had little control over when they were activated. In The Darkness II, developer Digital Extremes places more focus on powers than the traditional weapons in this game. Digital Extremes have changed the function of the demon arms, allowing the right tentacle to be used to kill enemies by flicking the analogue stick to aim and attack with the right bumper/R2 button. The left tentacle will be used for picking up things to either use as weapons or remove them from your path. It's controls will be assigned to the left bumper. The Darkness II also introduces new moves, such as the anaconda, which allows players to impale their enemies with the Darkness. Gunplay is changed with the introduction of Quad wielding, where players can use duel wielding weapons and demon arms simultaneously for powerful combos and satisfying effects.
While making his way through the streets and into the subway, Jackie begins seeing strange haunting visions of Jenny which beckon him to come to her. In the subway, Jackie avoids being hit by a train and makes his way onto the demolished tracks. He then sees another apparition of Jenny who tells him to dance with her. She then disappears as an oncoming train hits Jackie. The Darkness proclaims that Jackie will not die as Jackie wakes up in a strange dream-like world which seems to be some kind of heavenly hospital. There he sees Johnny Powell and his mob friend Tony, both of whom act strange. Jackie then wakes from the dream and realizes that The Darkness had taken possession of his body and slaughtered the remaining henchmen. He meets up with Fat Tony and makes his way back to his mansion.
A demo of the game was released on January 17th for Xbox 360, and January 24th for PC and PS3. It contains the beginning of the game, and the scene when Jackie is captured by the Victor Valente in the brothel.
This news is going to be short and sweet because I want to save you as much time as possible: PlayStation 3 and PC players can now download a demo for The Darkness II which will finally be releasing on February 7th, and I urge all of you to play the demo immediately. The first game is one of my favorite Xbox 360 titles and I'm very excited to see it finally getting a sequel, not to mention what seems to be a very strong one in its own right.
On the roof, the player is given a choice to stay with Jenny in the ward, or reject the asylum and attempt to reach Hell. If the player chooses to stay, Jenny and Jackie slow dance, and the game ends. Otherwise, Jackie jumps from the roof and falls into Hell. The Darkness sends demons to stop Jackie, but Jackie releases Jenny from her bindings and the couple embraces. In a post-credits scene, Jenny is revealed to have become the new host for the Angelus, who has seen the destruction Jackie and the Darkness have caused. Jackie is too powerful and must remain trapped in Hell; leaving him screaming as the screen fades.
2K unveiled the game in May 2011.[32] The game was initially set to be released in October the same year, but was delayed until February 2012.[33] Players who pre-ordered the game would have upgraded to the Limited Edition, which included gameplay bonuses, illustration drawn by Marc Silvestri, and digital download for The Darkness Origins Volume 1 and Volume 2.[34] 2K provided extensive marketing for the game, launching a four-week promotion program on Kerrang Radio, partnering with Forbidden Planet for window displays and in-store promotions, and placing TV advertisements on both SyFy and Horror Channel.[35] A demo for the game was released in January 2012 on Steam, Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network.[36]

The "Demo Disc" is not a physical disc (as amazing as that would be) as we don't have the time or resources to organise the can of worms that is monetization and physical production. As such there will never be an official physical demo disc release however we provide a diy kit as a download to make your own. There's also been some confusion over this, these games are all built on modern engines to evoke the feeling and aesthetic of late 90s games, the disk would not be able to run on any sort of hardware from the time. The demo disc is a free downloadable exe for Windows only. Supporting other operating systems would likely double or triple the work it took to organise the disc.
